'Camp' Camp FAQs

What kind of people come to 'Camp' Camp?
Campers tend to be people who like being active in the out of doors or like to do sports or the arts. They also enjoy being around other people – though sometimes they are a little scared of meeting lots of strangers. About 80% are single. Last year's camp was 58% men and 42% women; our goal is 50/50. Between 200 and 230 people come to camp from 28 states and Canada. They range in age from 18 to 65, and most are in their mid 20s to mid 40s. Campers are like you and me: they like to be around friends, try new things, and challenge themselves.

Where is camp?
'Camp' Camp is located several miles outside a Maine village called Kezar Falls. It is about 2.5 hours from Boston and seven hours from New York City. The nearest airport is Portland International Airport in Portland, ME, which is 45 minutes away.

Will I be staying in a tent?
No. 'Camp' Camp leases a summer camp that has 20 cabins of varying sizes, many with their own bathrooms or showers. So you'll be staying in a rustic cabin and you'll have a bunk bed and cabin mates. We try our darndest to group snorers with snorers, sleepwalkers with sleepwalkers, quiet folks with quiet folks, and partiers with partiers.

Our stained glass guruHow do I get to camp?
We provide bus or van transportation from Port Authority in New York City and from Copley Square in Boston. The bus leaves New York at 7:30AM August 20. The bus stops in Boston at 12:30PM to pick up Campers there, and arrives at Camp around 3:30PM, depending on traffic. The price of the bus is $65 round-trip from Boston and $125 round-trip from New York City.

If you want to fly to Camp, please arrange your schedule to arrive at Portland (Maine) International Airport between 1PM and 3:30PM on August 20. Camp provides drivers to pick you up at the airport and take you to Camp, a 45-minute drive. There is no charge for this service. Sometimes Campers from the West Coast find it impossible to arrive during these times. For these special cases, Campers may arrive at Portland airport on August 19. Again, shuttle service will be arranged.

You may also drive to Camp; we send out complete directions once you register. We can set up carpools for you because parking at Camp is tight. (For those first-time Campers who drive so that they can leave if they get scared, don't worry: carpool or take the bus. We will take care of you.)

What time is camp over?
'Camp' Camp is over Sunday morning, August 27, after brunch. The New York/Boston bus leaves at 9:30AM and arrives in Boston at 12:30PM and New York City at 5:30PM, depending on traffic.

Most Campers plan their flights to leave between 11AM to 3PM, Sunday, August 27. Some West Coast Campers leave Camp as early as 6AM. Camp provides free shuttle service back to the airport.

Most people who are driving leave by noon.

Can I be in the cabin with Colin Farrell?
To be in his cabin you have to pay extra. A lot extra. And that also goes for all you lesbians who wanted to bunk with Lea Delaria.

Should I ask my Mum to sew a nametag in my underwear before camp?
Honey, this is an adult camp. If you can't keep track of your undies by now, you're signing up for the wrong camp.
